There's a difference
Usually when I hear this song it's at some generic "asian" event, which 9 times out of 10, has mainly a Chinese motif. So just to be clear, this song, Sukiyaki, is Japanese and I would be of Vietnamese descent. But not a lot of people get that, they just lump all of us dark-haired, small-eyed, Mongoloids into the same category. Which I've learned to just accept, because it's way easier than trying to explain the differences. Now if I could only tell you blond-haired, blue-eyed freaks apart.

Lost Awesomeness

They Might Be Giants might be one of my favorite bands of all time. Probably because they were introduced to me at a very young age. I must have been about 9 or 10 when they had a couple of videos made on Tiny Toon Adventures, even back then I recognized how witty their music was. I still listen to them now and I'm pretty dang sure I'll make my kids listen to them too. They'll start early, because TMBG has a couple of highly acclaimed children's albums. Funny songs that have a good melody AND teach you life lessons? Perfect for raising my own little awesome nerds.

Six months...
and I am stoked.

In a word...

STUPID.

Yet I still watched it. *hangs head in shame*

Dear 'Roline Happy Birthday! I hope you burned that Jayhawks shirt.

One, two, three, four, fiiiiiif...
I haven't really thought about it until recently, but I'm beginning to think 5 is my magic number.
Evidence:

A. I was born on November 25. 25 divided by 5 equals 5. Which brings me to...
B. I'm fifth daughter, of five girls.

C. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, which happens to fall on a Thursday. Thursday is also my favorite day, and what is Thursday? That's right friends, the fifth day of the week.
And finally...

D. This dude. Our first date was on Thursday. We started going "steady" on 05/10/99 and we're making it "official" on 05/10/10.

To close, I would like to share one of my favorite Dave Chappelle skits, featuring what happens to be one of my favorite amendment rights:

Tune Tuesday, way overdue and not on Tuesday

It's after Halloween, which in my book, makes Christmas music fair game. But other people disagree, and I whole-heartedly respect their opinion, even though they are all total Debbie Downers. So because of them, I've decided not to bombard you with the cheery musings of the season just yet. Instead, I'm going to get political this week. I thought this video from Radiohead was just a music video, but it's really a cleverly (and depressingly) disguised political ad to fight a really good cause. It also doesn't hurt that it's combined with an awesome band's awesome song, that is off an equally awesome album.
